Loreen’s winners performance.

FULL RESULTS

The Russian grannies came a respectable 2nd but it wasn’t as close as many had thought. Despite that, they actually scored more points that winners Azerbaijan did last year (259 compared to 221) and Serbia weren’t far behind on 214). Their average score of 6.16 votes from each country also puts them ahead of Helen Paparizou’s win in 2005.

Azerbaijan was a very surprising 4th, as was Albania in 5th place. I had a sneaking suspicion they might come top 10 but never imagined they’d finish 5th!

Germany, Italy and Spain finished 8th-10th place while the other countries in the Big 5, France and UK, finished  22nd and 25th respectively. Iceland finished surprisingly low in 20th place.

There were 4 ties in the voting – Romania/FYROM on 71 points, Ukraine/Cyprus on 65 points, Ireland/Iceland on 46 points and France/Denmark on 21 points. In these cases the country with votes from the most countries gets the higher position.
